Life Coaching Model

Developed by Dr. James Marhold, the nationally-recognized Life Coaching Model is based upon the philosophy that the path to successful rehabilitation and wellness is built upon a person’s own internal motivation and strengths.

The Life Coaching Model strives to promote the concept that behavioral healthcare services should be less about case management and more about the facilitation of self-help and defined personal goals.

Dr. Marhold’s Life Coaching Model was recognized as a finalist in 2012 for the National Eli Lilly Reintegration Award.

In order to provide the most effective behavioral healthcare services to our consumers, the Life Coaching Model is based upon five steps that address both the individual clinical needs of our consumers and the administrative/oversight needs of our agency and funding sources.

The five steps are:

1.   Assessments
2.   Planning
3.   Implementation
4.   Progress
5.   QA Reviews

Through this model, Declarations, Inc. Life Coaches are able to ensure that all supports and services are focused upon the individual’s positive internal qualities and abilities, rather their weaknesses.

A successful behavior modification plan is one that eventually becomes obsolete.

Building upon internal motivations and strengths to achieve wellness.

We have discovered that there is a set of human strengths that are the most likely buffers against mental illness: courage, optimism, interpersonal skill, work ethic, hope, honesty and perseverance. Much of the task of prevention will be to create a science of human strength whos mission will be to foster these virtues in young people.
